Publication lists that stay in sync with your searches
We saw you painstakingly updating and maintaining publication lists and searches. Now, link a list directly to your search and watch them both stay synchronized automatically.
Until now, a publication list and a tracker's search kept separate copies of the same sources, and you had to keep the two matched by hand. With Linked Lists, you link a list to a search once and they stay in sync in both directions. Edit the list on the Lists page and the search updates. Block a publication in the search and the list updates too.
Because a linked list is shared, every search linked to it uses the same set of sources, so a change made in one tracker shows up in the others. On the Lists page, a flag shows which searches each list is linked to, so you can check before you edit.
If you'd rather a search keep its own sources, use Copy from a list instead, which adds a one-time copy that won't change later. To link a list, open the tracker's Search setup in Settings, clear the existing sources, click Add sources, and choose Link a list. If you unlink a list later, its publications stay in the search as a separate copy.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are Linked Lists in Delve?
Delve’s Linked Lists connect a publication list directly to a tracker’s search setup. The list and search use the same set of sources instead of maintaining separate copies. This removes the need to manually reconcile a publication list with source changes made in a search. A linked list stays synchronized wherever it is linked.
What is the difference between copying and linking a publication list?
In Delve, copying from a list adds a one-time copy of the publication list’s sources to a search. Later changes to the original list do not update the search, and changes in the search do not update the original list. Linking a list keeps the source selections connected. Use linking when you want ongoing synchronization; use copying when the search should maintain its own independent source list.
Do Delve’s Linked Lists sync in both directions?
Yes. Delve’s Linked Lists synchronize changes between the publication list and the linked search. Editing the list on the Lists page updates the search. Blocking a publication in the tracker’s linked search updates the publication list, too.
What happens when the same publication list is linked to several trackers?
Every search linked to the same Delve publication list uses the shared source set. An edit made through one linked search updates the list and is reflected in the other linked searches. This keeps shared lists consistent across trackers and projects, but it also means a source change is not isolated to the tracker where you made it.
What happens if I unlink a publication list?
When you unlink a list in Delve, its publications remain in the search as a separate copy. Unlinking stops synchronization; it does not clear the search’s sources. After unlinking, changes to the publication list no longer update that search, and changes in the search no longer update the list.
