Your monitoring tool just counts every article with your name in it, whether or not it’s actually about you. Delve reads them, sets aside the ones that aren’t about you, and tells you why.

Vantek Marine’s new hull coating cuts fuel drag by 9% in North Sea trials

Bergen-based Vantek Marine says its silicone-free fouling-release coating reduced hull resistance across a six-month trial on two two Fjordline Coastal vessels. The company expects to supply up to 40 ships by 2027 as operators face stricter IMO emissions targets.

Irrelevant mentions, same-name brands

Same keyword, different story

Mentioned, not covered

A sponsor read, a roundup, a single line in someone else’s story. Your name shows up, but the coverage isn’t about you, so Delve checks what the story is actually about.

Runway Math podcast: “214: Why every startup is rewriting its pricing page,” with a sponsor read for Nectarine. Not a match. Nectarine only comes up in the sponsored ad at the beginning of the podcast. The episode is about startups, with no meaningful brand mentions.

Your name, not your story

Some mentions really do refer to you, just not in a way that matters. A game recap at an arena with your name on it isn’t coverage, and no Boolean can tell the difference.

Courtside Recap: “Hawks hold off late rally to win home opener at Vantek Arena.” Not a match. All Vantek mentions relate to Vantek Arena, the sports venue, rather than your brand’s tracked topics or spokespeople.

The oldest problem in monitoring

If your brand shares its name with anything, you’ve spent years writing exclusions. NOT recipe. NOT orchard. NOT smoothie. The fruit mentions still get through. Delve reads the article and knows which “Nectarine” it’s really about.

Sunday Larder: “Here’s what to bake with summer’s last nectarines.” Not a match. This is about the fruit, not the company. It’s a baking story, and Nectarine the company never comes up.

Cleaning coverage is costing you

Sound familiar?

Cleaning by hand

Before every report, you’re deleting articles that only share your name

A Boolean can’t fix it

Exclude the sponsor reads, the namesakes, and the memecoin, and you start losing real coverage. Keywords can’t read the article.

Inflated share of voice

False positives pad your count and your competitors’, so the comparison doesn’t hold up in front of leadership

Before you switch it on

Will my numbers change?

They can. Your totals may go down once articles that only share your name stop counting, and so can your competitors’, because they’re filtered the same way. That’s what keeps share of voice like with like.

On the call, we’ll show you what Delve would set aside on your own coverage, so you see the difference before you switch anything on.

Can I see why an article was set aside?

Yes. Every article marked Not a Match comes with a short note explaining why, like the examples above.

Do I have to filter everything?

No. Filtering is on or off per tracker, so you can start with one brand and leave the rest as they are.

Do we have to replace our current tool?

Not to get started. Delve can import coverage from a CSV export, so you can compare the same articles in both tools before you decide anything.

For your Head of Comms

Need a yes from your Head of Comms? Send them the short version.

  • Delve reads each article, sets aside the ones that only share our name, and shows why.
  • It filters our competitors the same way, so share of voice compares like with like.
  • It cuts the hand-cleaning we do before every report.
